A Journey Rooted in Land and Learning
Chante’s path into entrepreneurship began with a trowel in hand and a heart for service. While volunteering with United Way Niagara, she helped build food security gardens and greenhouses, empowering others to grow their own food and reclaim a relationship with the land. During this time, she pursued her certification in horticulture, formalizing decades of practical experience. In 2023, she launched Plant the Town, carrying forward the trust and relationships built in her volunteer years.

“Having all the same clients since my volunteer days—and knowing they’re proud supporters of the company—means the world to me.”
From Garden Beds to Community Roots
At Plant the Town, community takes root in every garden—and every generation. Chante’s work goes beyond gardening—it aims to nurture growth in people as well. Her three sons have each contributed to the business, learning by doing and leading alongside her, including her youngest, affectionately known as the “Foreman and budding entomologist.” Mentorship is part of everyday life, whether she’s guiding new gardeners in the field, collaborating with community learners, supporting schools in creating outdoor classrooms, or nurturing a classroom full of future gardeners. She helps people grow—alongside the gardens they tend.

“My team and I are certainly known for working hard and being a quirky good time. For example on Halloween we wore mushroom hats and showed up for our seniors as ‘Morel Support’.”
It’s this mix of dedication, humor, and care that makes Plant the Town unforgettable. Chante’s work reminds us that the best gardens grow more than plants—they grow connection, too.
Rooted in Resilience
Every garden teaches you to move at your own pace—and Chante Chevalier has brought that same wisdom into her business. While the creative, hands-on work comes naturally, she’s also taken on the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep a business running. Living with autism and ADHD, she continues to find ways to show up with patience, care, and consistency. Her journey is a quiet reminder that there’s no one way to build something meaningful. For those with unique ways of learning or working, Chante’s story offers something powerful: proof that you can lead with your strengths, learn as you grow, and still bloom in your own time.
